Race Ready’ Roadster Lightweight from Morgan

25/05/04 – for immediate release

Completing Morgan’s trio of new cars unveiled at the British Motor Show on May 25th is the new Roadster Lightweight – bringing exciting race and track day action within easy reach of enthusiasts. The car is designed to meet the scrutineering requirements of the popular Morgan Challenge Series, with the opportunity for 10 UK race meetings and some highly competitive racing in a field of around 20 Morgans of differing specifications.

A stripped down and race-prepared version of the road-going 3 litre V6 Morgan Roadster, the Lightweight will be delivered ex-factory ready for immediate action on the track - with approved roll bar, fire system, race seat and harness, alloy wheels, Yokohama track tyres, racing steering wheel and fly screen. The complete car weighs in at approximately 850 Kg and with an engine output rated at around 248 bhp and 300 Nm (221lbs ft) torque it promises a hot performance.

Commenting, Sales and Marketing Director Matthew Parkin said:

“This is a really quick and sporty race-ready car that enables anyone to go racing with the minimum of cost. Drivers running a Roadster Lightweight can look forward to a full season’s racing with the Morgan Challenge Series for as little as £10,000 in on-costs – and there’s no need to wait for a number of others to be ready for a single make series; you’ll be right in the thick of the action from day one. And for those who prefer to have their fun at track days the Roadster Lightweight will deliver in bucket loads.”

Just 15 Morgan Roadster Lightweights will be available this year for customers to order for delivery in time for the 2005 racing season. The race-ready car is priced at £29,373 inc VAT
