Morgan car enthusiasts from all over the world are celebrating today after the Hereford Diocesan Advisory Committee gave the go ahead to a stained glass window in a Herefordshire Church; the window will be in memory of Peter Morgan, Managing Director and then Chairman of Morgan Cars until his death in 2003.

The window will be designed and made by Susan Ashworth then installed by her in the east window of the porch of St Peter & St Paul Church in Stoke Lacy, a village about fifteen miles from Malvern where Morgan Cars are still produced.

“The Morgan (Motor Company) family has a long association with the Church at Stoke Lacy. Peter Morgan’s grandfather, Henry Morgan was Rector for 50 years from 1987 – 1937 and his Great Grandfather was Rector from 1871 to 1877! “said John Caiger, Churchwarden at Stoke Lacy. “The window complements the ‘Morgan’ stained glass window already installed on the West side of the porch of the church five years ago. Some of Peter Morgan’s ancestors are featured in other stained glass windows in the church.”

Peter Morgan succeeded his father, H.F.S. Morgan, the founder of the Morgan Motor Company as Chief Executive of the Company after his death in 1959. Peter led the company through four decades. Throughout this time Peter Morgan was a very active Patron and not only supported the Church but attended services and village events.

Morgan supporters from all over the world have contributed nearly £1800 to pay for the window which will cost £1500. Any funds left over after installation costs will be donated to the church.
