A recent news release from the NHTSA regarding a delay on airbags also included Morgan as a manufacturer requesting an airbag exemption.

Federal regulators have promised prompt action on requests from six manufacturers that say they cannot meet advanced airbag rules scheduled to take effect Sept. 1.

Lamborghini, Bugatti, Lotus, Morgan, Maserati, and Saleen, have requested exemptions. The NHTSA has in a notice signaled it is likely to agree.

The NHTSA said that airbag suppliers have concentrated on large volume automakers and that "off the shelf" solutions don't work.

The exemption for Morgan, if approved, will cover the Aero 8 and Roadster sold in the U.S. Morgan has requested a two year exemption.
