21/03/2004 Historic finish for Morgan at Sebring Aero 8 finishes 12 hours ahead of TVR and several Porsches

The magic chequered flag at Sebring marks a turning point for Morgan in contemporary international racing. The Team finished in 10th place in a class of 22 of the best GT cars in the world and a stunning 20th position in the race overall.

All doubts about credibility finally laid to rest, the Morgan Works Team is surely now well placed to receive the Le Mans entry it deserves.

Team Manager David Dowse comments:

"We have had a really fantastic reception from the Sebring crowd all week, and to finish one of the world's top endurance races in such fine shape is a truly amazing achievement for a team that is constanty fighting funding problems. We have more than achieved our objectives, and I believe we have also added a little piece to the incredible history of Morgan endurance racing.

"I would like personally to thank all those who have supported us in achieving such a stunning result - our sponsors AA Car Data Check,, Teng Tools, KW Suspension, P&O Ferries and for all their fantastic support. In particular, I must specially mention Yokohama, whose technical support has been absolutely superb throughout testing and the race. Yokohama tyres have proved to be a perfect match for the Aero 8's advanced aluminium chassis and suspension, and all the drivers have commented on the precise way the car handles on Yokohama.

"There are also individual supporters, too many to mention, without whom the adventure could not continue. Special thanks go to Brian Ward and Jack Payne, Lisa & Bob and all the Morgan people who came to Sebring this weekend - they will know why."

Signing off now for a well earned drink or two. Thanks for being with us at Sebring 2004"
