Aaron Scott (aaronscott.co.uk) and Keith Ahlers were at Oulton Park on July 17 & 18 for the 9th and 10th rounds of the British GT Cup Championship.

The team were running a newly built BMW engine in the car for the Oulton Park race, however a test on the rolling road revealed that the new unit was some 35 BHP down on the previous unit.

Free practice confirmed the team’s fears as the unit was found to lack straight-line speed. Keith and Aaron were able to salvage 10th and 7th places in their respective qualifying sessions held in wet conditions.

In race 1 Keith made a good start and kept out of trouble to hand the car over to Aaron in 7th position. Aaron finished the race in 6th place. For the 2nd of the two races Aaron made a good start climbing to 5th on the opening lap, however he was then passed by other cars as the straight line speed of the Morgan proved too slow to keep pace with the leading cars. The duo eventually finished in 8th position.

Aaron said, “ This was a really tough weekend. The chassis was fantastic but we were let down by our engine. We have to resolve this before the next race at Silverstone so we can get back to the front of the field of again. I’d like to thank my sponsors from Omnico, Livespace, BES, Aerospace Fasteners, Sheridans and Epsom Motor Company for their support.”

The next races at Silverstone take place on August 15.
